Michael Kell is founder and managing director of Thornlea Capital. Prior to forming the firm, Michael spent 11 years at GCM Grosvenor (NASDAQ: GCMG), a large alternative asset manager. While at Grosvenor, Michael focused on private equity deal sourcing and investment underwriting activities and had responsibility for regionally targeted programs in Michigan and the broader Midwest. He also focused on the special situations practice and was involved in deal sourcing and conducting due diligence on private equity investments.
Prior to joining GCM Grosvenor, Michael was a Vice President in Specialized Industries Banking at Citizens Financial Group of the Royal Bank of Scotland. He worked as a Vice President in National City Bank’s Corporate Banking Group and as an Associate in JP Morgan Chase Corporation’s Tax Oriented Investments Group. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.
Michael lives in Birmingham, Michigan with his wife Kim and their two daughters.
